Longarm quilting and snippets of my life

I’ve been busily catching up. I had been asked by my quilt guild to quilt the raffle quilt. I started it 2 weeks ago, didn’t like the way the thread looked on it. My husband and I took out all the stitches. This took a week, working on it a few hours a day. Luckily I stopped when I had only made one pass with my long arm. It’s amazing how quickly you can put stitches on a quilt and how labor intensive it is to take those same stitches out. I reloaded this quilt and got it all quilted today. I decided to to an all over design because the quilt seemed so busy, the quilting wasn’t going to show up much anyway.  I’m so glad it’s finally done. Now I can move onto a quilt that I’ll actually get paid for!

I’ve had a little helper since Wed.  This is my fur-nephew, Henry. We got to babysit him over the weekend. He’s such a sweet, lovable dog. It’s been a little strange having a young, energetic dog in the house. Our dogs are old, and don’t move much. Henry, is Mr. Happy. I love him.

I got to take a class yesterday to learn freezer-paper piecing. It was fun to learn something new, and I got to hang out with my friends which is always nice. This is what I accomplished during classIt will be a small wallhanging when it’s finished. I’m hoping to get this finished soon, but I may have to wait until summer, when I’ll have more time to work on my own stuff.

It seems that WordPress has taken my spell check. Please ignore any mis-spellings.

  1. I really like the pattern you stitched on that guild quilt! What color thread did you end up using? I have a red and white customer quilt to do, and I’m undecided about the thread color. Love the star blocks you did, too! Purple? Why am I not surprised? 😉 Last but not least, Henry! I loved that little bundle of energy! Makes me miss you guys! 😦

I used an ARC poly thread that was the color of gold metallic. It was a good color for both the red and the white. Of course it’s purple!

  2. Love the feathered baroque swirls! They look great!

You make them sound so fancy! Thanks.

Carie, everything looks great! What a great hubby to help you with removing the stitches!

Henry looks so much like my little Henry…..beautiful dog!

Isn’t he a sweetie? Oh yeah, my husband is a sweetie too!
